When I watched this video: Cain's Arcade, I nearly cried (apparently many had). It was absolutely refreshing to see how supportive people can be. This 9 year old was able to touch the hearts of so many Internet patrons. I was amazed at the massive number of people out there that wanted to do what they could to support project's such as Caine Monroy's, especially his first customer, Nirvan. This has also reminded me that to make a difference doesn't necessarily mean that you have to come up with your own idea. I was so intrigued and wanted to know what happened next for Caine, so I continued onto part two: "Caine's Arcade 2: From a Movie to a Movement." (I nearly cried again!).

Cain's own letter also speaks much truth, "When you are a kid you get to...use your imagination. You don't have to go to work or do all the things old people do." Some "old people" and even teenagers, are easily distracted or get preoccupied with all the responsibilities of what the world expects of them. As educators, we need to find more opportunities and allow our students to "take chances, make mistakes, and get messy" (Ms. Frizzle - "The Magic School Bus"), and to not let them stop building on their interests. As Nirvan clearly states, "The idea is not to give kids the tools to build the thing they can imagine, but to also imagine the world they can build." We need to foster and support even the smallest idea believing that it can become a big one.
However, I hope that all the support and attention the public has given Caine, will continue to positively influence him. With a scholarship fund ready to support his future education at $240,814.32, I hope that the high expectations won't pressure him and damage his childhood experience.
