I will now officially proclaim, Brainstorm 1, will be the 20% Project I will pursue. The quilt, will once again have to wait. I must admit, the prospect of a possible side business has been a yearning desire, and to be able to provide a service that is of high demand will allow many opportunities for success. Furthermore, the skills of flower arrangements could be used in so many other occasions. Flowers are for celebration, for mourning, for appreciation, for affection. Flowers change communication and words to mean more than if it was only said or written. I hope that I will be able to help others in finding their own style and persona in the beauty of such delicate life.

I think it's an awesome project! Especially how you were able to discover this talent through your own DIY wedding. My wife did most the decorating for our wedding as well. Now you get to share this skill and help others with their special moments. Can't wait to see the progress and the growth of your side business.

Thank you Jaime for your encouragement! DIY projects seem to be a big trend, especially for weddings. I have two friends who are getting married this summer, and it's almost inevitable that some parts are personalized with their own touches. I hope through my experience, it could reach out to others to have the choice to do their own flowers as a DIY as well. Considering, it is one of the most expensive musts in the event.

How fun Kay! If you ever need any help please let me know! I worked as a florist for six years and (at one point in time) had my business license and did several events such as weddings, parties, and (sadly) funerals. If you ask me to make it, I can duplicate it!

That's awesome Lili! Now I'm even more excited to know I could contact you, someone with so much experience! I was thinking about costs as well, it will be difficult to have a budget to practice. Hopefully, there are other ways around this, since getting a business license in time to start working on it won't be ideal at the moment. I will definitely have to look into the Carlsbad warehouse! Thank you so much.

DIY seems to be the next big trend in today's pop culture, but I believe it's more than that. This gives me gratification and does not make me feel like odd for having all of my own DIY projects in my head. Where did you get a majority of your ideas from? Also, how much extra time was spent finishing these projects? I think this it is great.

For my wedding, I just basically, asked myself what I needed for the ceremony and reception, and which of those things I could make. Then I went from there. Along the way, when I was looking for materials, I would see what's actually available that would fit my budget, and my project would have to be modified. If you have any DIY projects that you'd want to get started on, I would recommend you just go to where the supplies are and see how you feel when the materials are in your hands. I enjoy these crafts because it allows me to be creative through plenty of problem solving. The amount of time for each varied. Sometimes, the "done" better than "perfect" was definitely key in telling myself when to stop. I had a deadline to reach so I wouldn't spend more time than I could actually manage.

Kay's Books
Some very interesting concepts of how the education system needs to be adjusted.
Very informative. Although quite repetitive and a few oddly worded parts.
by Austin Kleon
Easy read. Interesting perspective and reminder for many aspects of how to look at one's own work and work habits.
